The Moment Art and Discipline Meet on Stage

With the academic education I received from the Istanbul University State Conservatory and my years of conducting experience, I don’t just perform music; I craft every note with artistic meticulousness.

I am Ari Aliciyan

I lead a life deeply intertwined with music as a composer, arranger, orchestrator, pianist, and conductor.

I completed my undergraduate education in the Opera Department of the Istanbul University State Conservatory, and my master’s degree in the Music Education Program at Istanbul University.

My interest in music began in my childhood years and eventually became the center of my life. Today, I take the stage both as a pianist and a conductor, while also producing my own works and preparing arrangements and orchestrations for various ensembles and projects. In my work, I aim to build connections between classical music, Anatolian melodies, and the musical heritage of different cultures; reinterpreting the sounds of the past with the expressive language of today.

In my compositions, I draw inspiration from the multicultural fabric of Istanbul, the collective memory of Anatolia, and the richness of the Armenian musical heritage. I view music not merely as a performance space, but as a form of expression that establishes a dialogue between cultures.

In addition to the albums and works I have released so far, I have created arrangements and orchestrations for different artists and ensembles. While meeting audiences through concerts and stage performances on one hand, I continue to compose new pieces on the other.

Alongside composing and performing, I conduct research on Armenian music history, cultural heritage, and the multicultural past of Anatolia; I develop projects and write articles in these fields.

Although the halls, cities, and projects have changed over the years, that initial excitement I feel right before going on stage has never changed. Hearing my own works and arrangements brought to life by musicians adds a new meaning to this excitement every single time. This is still the aspect of music that moves me the most.
